– Volunteer projects develop leadership skills and make a difference in the community –

Livonia, Mich. – Oct. 26, 2007 – Eighteen Quicken Loans team members enrolled in the company’s leadership development program are volunteering at Gleaners Community Food Bank on Saturday, October 27, helping to make a difference in the community while at the same time developing their leadership skills.

They will work in Gleaner’s Taylor, Michigan warehouse sorting and packing food boxes that will go to area soup kitchens, churches and other non-profits that have special programs to feed the hungry.

The Quicken Loans Leadership Education Development (L.E.A.D.) is a robust leadership training program that incorporates volunteerism as a key component of each of its three six-month training sessions. Team members enrolled in the program can hone their leadership skills by leading the volunteer activities, which results in a win for the company, the community and each individual’s own personal and professional growth.

“Making a difference in the community is one of our core values as a company and volunteer opportunities like Gleaners, and our work with Habitat for Humanity, help imbue our future leaders with a strong sense of community service and make them aware of many needs existing in our surrounding areas,” said Mark Miller, Vice President of Leadership Development. “These events also give them an opportunity to exercise the leadership skills they are learning outside the company and the classroom.”

Gleaners and other community organizations experience their greatest demand during the cold winter months; in the past year Quicken Loans team members have volunteered more than 400 hours at Gleaners. For many people in need, the Gleaners food bank is their only source of emergency food.

The Quicken Loans “Community DIFF Team” helps coordinate a variety of volunteer activities in Michigan, Ohio and Arizona throughout the year. In addition to financial contributions, Quicken Loans team members volunteer thousands of hours working at local agencies and in support of fund-raisers for the March of Dimes, Red Cross and Karmanos Cancer Institute and more.
