Livonia, Mich. – May 27, 2010 Quicken Loans, the nation’s largest online retail mortgage lender, and its family of companies received the Detroit Tigers Wives “Rookie of the Year” Award at the Susan G. Komen Detroit Race for the Cure on Saturday, May 22. The award is presented annually to the largest team participating in the Race for the first time.

More than 100 team members from Quicken Loans and its family of companies braved the rainy weather with 30,000 other participants to support breast cancer awareness at Comerica Park. The Quicken Loans team decorated pink ribbons, donned Quicken Loans tattoos, and used their Facebook pages to remind women of the importance of mammograms in the fight against cancer.

Quicken Loans team members were able to collaborate with their new neighbors from Compuware, as the company is relocating to the Compuware building in August. During the pre-race warm up, Quicken Loans team member Stephanie Stevenson gave a speech about Race for the Cure and why it holds personal importance to her.

“The energy of this movement touches me,” Stevenson said. “My mother is a 25-year survivor of breast cancer and events like this help women, men and families beat the odds every day.”

Quicken Loans sponsored the water station where people walking and running in the race could hydrate, and the Survivor Cafe, where participants could grab breakfast and connect with fellow survivors. Fathead, a partner of Quicken Loans and the leading brand in sports and entertainment graphic products, sponsored the VIP parking.
