-Donors to the Blanket Days for the Homeless Campaign entered to win Jonas Brothers Tickets-

Detroit, Mich. – Jan. 12, 2009 – With the need for the local Red Cross’ services the most critical in decades, employees at Quicken Loans and others from the Southeastern Michigan business community are coming together to collect blankets and cash donations for the Southeastern Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Those who visit Quicken Loans’ Livonia, Mich., headquarters at 20555 Victor Parkway in Livonia, Mich., on January 15 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. and donate a blanket or $5 minimum donation will be entered into a drawing for four tickets to a live performance by the Jonas Brothers on Sunday, January 18 at Joe Louis Arena.

“This event is the latest evidence of the commitment of Quicken Loans and its employees to making a difference in Metro Detroit,” said Jim Laverty, CEO of the American Red Cross Southeastern Michigan Chapter. “Their generosity and dedication continue to make a difference in the lives of people in our community who are recovering from disasters, preparing for emergencies or making the sacrifices of being a part of a military family.”

The “Stuff an ERV” event will attempt to fill a Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) with new, twin-sized blankets in support of the Red Cross’ Blanket Days for the Homeless campaign, as well as raise funds to support the Red Cross’ ongoing emergency relief, health and safety training and military family support initiatives in the community. The Southeastern Michigan Chapter has set a goal of collecting 7,000 blankets during this year’s campaign to benefit local homeless shelters. Cash donations benefit those left homeless due to a financial emergency, domestic violence victims, teen runaways and displaced families resulting from a home fire or other disaster.

“The Blanket Days for the Homeless is a great cause, and one that we are proud to have supported for more than three years now,” said Patrick McInnis, President, Quicken Loans. “With the tough economy, the Red Cross is seeing an unprecedented need for its services all throughout Michigan. Requests for help have soared and now is our chance to help ensure that the Red Cross has the resources to continue to meet the needs of our neighbors and friends.”

During the event, local Detroit station 93.9 FM, “The River,” will be broadcasting live from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will feature refreshments from local companies, as well as several give-aways. In addition to the drawing for the Jonas Brothers tickets, other giveaways, including Xeko collectable trading card games and Fathead® wall graphics, will be raffled throughout the day. Local media personalities, Red Cross staff and emergency vehicles, family disaster preparedness information and other attractions will also be on hand.
