-Team rewards range from MP3 players and video gaming consoles to Disney World vacations-

Livonia, Mich. – June 14, 2007 – For the third straight year, Quicken Loans, the nation’s largest online retail mortgage lender, has earned the top spot on Computerworld magazine’s “100 Best Places to Work in Information Technology” list, which will appear in the magazine’s June 18 issue. (Quicken Loans also has been ranked in the “top 20” on FORTUNE Magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work for in America” list for four consecutive years.)

Computerworld conducted an anonymous survey of more than 27,000 technology professionals from 146 companies to develop this annual list. Their responses on topics including benefits and perks, career development, diversity, and training and retention, factored heavily in determining the overall rankings. Quicken Loans Technology team members surveyed cited the ability to take ownership in projects and work collaboratively with others from across the company as key drivers of their job satisfaction.

“The 360 team members comprising our Technology group are far more than technology experts. They are familiar with all facets of our business and have a deep understanding of the entire mortgage process,” said Frank Laura, Chief Information Officer, Quicken Loans. “We challenge them to dig deep, looking for things that can be improved upon, from the client’s perspective. I think they derive a lot of satisfaction in building solutions internally, rather than sourcing technology off the shelf, and in knowing what they do makes a difference to the company and our clients.”

“Our success is based on an entrepreneurial culture we’ve created that encourages and rewards creativity and innovation,” said Dan Gilbert, Chairman and Founder of Quicken Loans. “We have a saying here, it’s not about the who, it’s about the what. It doesn’t matter who came up with the idea. If it’s a great idea, regardless of whether it came from the CIO or the newest person on the team, we run with it.”

“We are obsessed with finding a better way,” Gilbert added. “Our Technology Team has a very high level of awareness, always noticing things that are broken and implementing new processes and better ways of doing things. We refer to this as building a better mousetrap.”

“By unleashing our team members from the typical corporate bureaucracy that prevents people from executing on their great ideas, we’ve been able to change an entire industry, using technology to make the mortgage experience simple and painless for our clients,” he concluded.

In addition to job satisfaction, Quicken Loans technology professionals referred to fun perks, such as the “Q Express,” which provides transportation and tickets to sporting and entertainment events, including Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers NBA basketball games (Chairman and Founder Gilbert also is Majority Owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers).

They also receive rewards for outstanding performance that include items ranging from Apple iPods, Microsoft XBOX 360s and Nintendo Wii gaming consoles, to travel vouchers that have been used for family vacations to Disney World.

Other perks mentioned include major events, such as the company’s annual gala holiday party that features headline entertainment, such as this past year’s performance by Kid Rock at the Detroit Renaissance Center Marriott hotel. In 2005, the company’s 20th Anniversary Celebration, held at the Quicken Loans Arena, featured Grammy-Award winning group The Black-Eyed Peas, with the company’s employee rock band “The Loaners” as the opening act.

Team members surveyed also cited the company’s annual gala holiday party, which features headline entertainment, such as this past year’s performance by Kid Rock at the Detroit Renaissance Center Marriott hotel. In 2005, the company’s 20th Anniversary Celebration, held at the Quicken Loans Arena, featured The Black-Eyed Peas, with the company’s in-house rock band “The Loaners” as the opening act.

Free popcorn, slushies and cappuccinos are available all day in “Soft Rock Cafe” lounge areas that feature all the conveniences of home, right down to stainless steel appliances. But while unique perks make the workplace fun, it’s the company’s culture that provides the greatest sense of job satisfaction.

“IT executives face a number of issues that have made their work environments increasingly challenging,” said Don Tennant, editor in chief, Computerworld. “This year’s top 100 companies have figured out how to give IT workers the sense of fulfillment and recognition they need to stay put in this changing economy.”
